Healing and What it Means To you!
Awakened Wellness Challenge: What Does Healing Mean to You?
Healing is a deeply personal journey—one that is unique to each of us. In my book, The Body Within, I explore how health and healing shape not only our present but also our aging process and, ultimately, the transition at the end of life.
The medical definition of healing is: To make sound or whole, especially in bodily condition.
But what about your definition?
For me, healing means being the best version of myself—physically, mentally, and intuitively. It’s about cultivating a strong body, a sharp mind, and a deep connection with The Body Within, so I can trust my intuition to guide me toward a fulfilling and aligned life.
What Could Healing Mean?
Healing isn’t one-size-fits-all. It can mean different things at different stages of life.
Aging Gracefully – Taking care of yourself now so you can maintain strength, clarity, and vitality as you age.
Fixing Something Physically – Recovering from an injury, illness, or chronic condition to restore function and well-being.
Emotional Healing – Becoming aware of emotions, releasing old wounds, or learning to respond to life with more balance.
Understanding Life More Deeply – Gaining clarity about your purpose, your choices, and what truly fulfills you.
Being Present for Yourself & Others – Healing can be about showing up in life—fully, authentically, and with an open heart.
Now, what does healing mean to you?
Your Challenge: Discover Your Definition of Healing
Step 1: Set the Space
Before bed, take 20 minutes for yourself. Dim the lights, play quiet music, and lie down on the floor or your bed. This is your time to tune in.
Step 2: Connect with Your Body
Gentle Breathing & Stretching:
Bring one knee to your chest, inhale before moving, and exhale as you pull it in. Repeat with the other leg.
Cross one arm over your chest, exhale into the stretch, and repeat with the other.
Pay attention: Are your muscles tight? Is your mind racing? Are your joints stressed from the day?
Step 3: Ask Yourself the Question
As you continue breathing, ask yourself:
What does healing mean to me?
Say the words in your mind. Really mean it. Feel the energy behind your intention.
Step 4: Be Open to Your Truth
You may not get an answer right away, but over the next few days, unexpected moments of clarity will come—when your mind is relaxed and least expecting it. Write them down.
How will you know if the answer is real? It might be something uncomfortable to hear. That’s often how we recognize truth—we resist it before we embrace it.
Step 5: Revisit the Question
After a few days, sit with the question again. Has your perspective shifted? Do you now see a bigger picture for your health and healing?
Final Thoughts
Knowing what healing means to you is crucial—it will shape the choices you make and the path you take. Don’t let your healing be defined by something you read or what works for someone else. Your truth is your own.
